Nutritional planning doesn't have to be overwhelming when you have the guidelines set forth from the USDA's Food Pyramid and the My Plate for guides.

In the page Healthy Survival Foods you will find the current requirements and handy links for meal planning and for calculating long term storage options.

Spelled out for you also is a 28 day portion pattern for servings. Taking the necessary foods as a priority and planning accordingly will help you get a handle on what may be needed for 28 days to 3 months to 1 year or longer.
*
Also, included in the page's info are handy links for calorie intake according to your age, weight, gender and activity level as well as a link to specific food calorie and serving portion recommendations.
*
The image shown represents a balanced meal. In this meal you have the needed veggies, protein servings, and grain (pasta). Add to this a serving of dairy in the form of milk, cheese, or yogurt, and a serving of fruit. Meals like this can be made from your storage easily.
*
A healthy diet can be stored and maintained with the correct requirements loaded in it. Stored foods don't have to be bland or tasteless. Choose your favorites and work from there. The only limit in your food prep is your own creativity.
*
See to your family's requirements and get the ball rolling.
*
It's easier than you think!
